My parents won't let me wear black nail polish!?

I really want to wear black nail polish, but my parents won't let me. my mom won't let me cuz she says i look like a goth. i am not a goth! i wear colorful clothes everyday! I need good reasons to wear black nail polish. i really want to wear nail polish, and i get jealous of all the celebs and all the girls in school that get to wear black nail polish.

I L-O-V-E my black polish! I think it's a really easy way to update and simplify your look. I never wear too much color, usually just blacks, whites, greys and blues; so wearing bright pink or red polish just wouldn't make sense. Black matches with everything - it's like the new french tip.





If you're hep on trends, you'll know that dark reds and purples are also in for this winter - a great alternative to stark black. I would suggest going for darker colors to sort of ease your way into black.





Another possibility is getting a french manicure or pedicure but with black instead of white and leaving the rest of the nail nude. This is also very stylish, and the black won't be too overpowering.





Try compromising with your parents. Ask to just wear it on the weekends so they can see how you would wear it. You could also find some pictures of celebrities wearing darker polish and show them just how UN-goth it is!

Reply:paint your nails a very deep burgandy as dark as you can find. I got a color from walmart that people mistake for black when they glance at my nails. that way it's not black obeying your parents wishes but you'll be happy...sometimes you can decline a battle but still win the war, remember that babe

It now looks lady like a simple instead of a hyper colour like blue.

Reply:I can't think of a good reason why you "need" to wear black nail polish, but I can't think of a good reason why not, either. If that's the worst thing your mother has to worry about, she is lucky. Does she think jealousy is OK, but the color of your nail polish is a big deal?





And what's wrong with goths, anyway? Some of my favorite depressive, caffeine addicted friends are goths. Sure, they only shuffle when they dance, but I've never considered that a character flaw.

but you didnt say how old you are.. so if you;re too young i agree with your mother and say black nail polish would be innappropriate

or say that you decided to turn goth a little at a time and the first step is painting your nails black, then never go goth about anything else. or you could just accept what your mom said and realize that black nail polish is actually pretty nasty.

Reply:Just to make her mad you should buy really really dark navy blue (it's in right now anyway) and wear it because hey, it's not black but it looks really close to it. Try OPI nail polish in Russian Navy.

there is nothing wrong with wearing black nail polish.....i did it all the time and still do


wearing black polish does not make you gothic....its just like any other color


its not like it is permanent, it comes off with nail polish remover....
Reply:get nailpolish that is not black, like really really really dark blue or something. That way you can be like, "hey, it's not black, its dark blue. Stop gettin all up in my business". Works every time.

Reply:Tell her that you will never come emo but want to wear black nail polish. Just tell her , you will wear you normal clothes like always but just put on black nail polish. A young teacher at my school wears black nail polish but she is not emo. She wears the coolest clothes and is in style not goth. Just really say that you will never become goth but just wear black nail polish. Good luck!

I dont know what u could say, but maybe try wearing a really dark red or purple. For halloween I wore a really dark red, and people kept asking me what the color was! It looked black, but the bottle looked red! Try something like that!
Reply:start small, with a dark purple, then sneak in some black strpies or dots.
Reply:Show them pics of Laren Conrad, Lidsay Lohan and other celebs with black nail polish. You should have bought the polish worn it and not told your parents at all and if they noticed you would have already worn it. Good Luck!
