Polish living in Britain? how are you finding it?

Just curious to know how the Polish people that have come here to work feel about their stay here?

I know you are mostly hard working people and we owe you a debt from WW2, I just wondered if you have found us Brits freindly or have you faced animosity?

I have no probs with the Poles coming here to work.....x

Polish living in Britain? how are you finding it?
My boyf is Polish, he likes living here. He works hard, pays taxes and enjoys himself. He's at uni and is studying hard too. I am English, and all my mates think he's great - and he has adapted really well to British culture, unlike some Poles he has been forced into watching some "good" British TV like Corrie, Eastenders, Holby City hee hee and so he has an excellent grasp of "British Society".
Reply:Essex Ron, to answer your question; Auschwitz was in Nazi occupied Poland, and was liberated by the Red Army of Russia.

As for me, I am not Polish (although some of my fathers side of the family come from parts of what is now known as Poland). However, I do have a couple of friends who are Polish. One works in the local supermarket, and his wife works part time in a kitchen supply shop. They love it here, but they have experienced some xenophobia. I also knew a Polish refugee from the WWII, who was an elderly neighbour in at my last address. He was a lovely bloke who had come over here with his wife. He had been a teacher, but couldn't get work here for several years, eventually he worked in offices. His wife died shortly after arriving here in England in the 1940's.

The two Poles that I mention, have never made any comment regarding us owing them anything.
Reply:With a stupid question like this I am not surprised to see you don't allow email.

We owe the Poles NOTHING - of course they lost a lot of people in WWII, but so did most of Europe. If you look and see, we entered the War specifically to protect the integrity of Poland. They didn't fight to save US - we all fought together against the Germans.

That is no criticism of the Poles - it is a criticism of your ignorance.

I was saying only today, however, that most Polish, and indeed ALL Eastern European, people I have met, are hard-working, polite and pleasant. What I would like to do is get rid of ALL our useless people, of whatever ethnic origin - mainly, probably, British - and replace them with Poles and Eastern Europeans. I am fairly sure that, because of their work ethic and demeanour, most feel welcome here and reciprocate by contributing to Britain.

Including the British who, for reasons that are difficult to comprehend, believe that WE owe THEM a dept.

A little quiz question for you - what country is Auschwitz in? And who liberated it?
Reply:I live in Manchester and know some Polish people as well as other East Europeans. Not them is the problem here in Britain, but the millions who live on the s..t benefit system this useless government brought in.They get so much money from benefits they have no incentive to work which I find quite normal. Why would you waste time and energy working for the minimum wage when you get so much more money from benefits without breaking a sweat?

And when you see these bas....ds whining about immigrants that take up jobs you start thinking what's wrong with them.
Reply:we have some Polish people in our town. they are good folk, they seem happy and fit in really well. personally! i welcome them into the country. we also have a lot of Muslims.....(an entirely different story) i would say that any one coming here to muck in and do their bit!! is a bonus to the country. ( i don't give a dam what! colour they are or where they come from. any one here to screw around with our security! or puke their hate fuelled cave dweller bile onto our streets need to be removed. ((forcibly)) before they destroy us all.
Reply:I'm polish and 'forced' into soaps by my lovely scottish fiancee too!! I cant say I've faced any animosity from any british people, and i have plenty of british friends.
Reply:i thought we went to war against the germans to protect the poles who were being invaded. so how do we owe them a debt. its the other way round. they owe us
Reply:First of how do we owe them a debt to ww2; we went to war on There behalf and when there country was over run we gave them a home. Read some history books
Reply:probably the same way the germans felt about british builders in the 80s or the spanish now.
Reply:i like it alot work good and british people i know are all nice. and i work hard for my money too .
Reply:What debt do we owe the Poles for WW2?

As I recall it was Germany rather than the UK who invaded them.
