Too young for nail polish or makeup?

Is 12 too young to be wearing solid color nail polish?

My mom was born like RIGHT before the parents who allow their children to wear it.

All my life I have seen girls wear bright pink and purple nail polish. I asked my mom for some she's all no, you're too young. (I was 4 at the time)

When I was ten i could paint them, but only colors that you could see when reflected.

My grandma did not let my mom wear it till she was like 15 so she says she will do that to me.

Also recently, I got a HUGE zit on my nose. She let me use face cleaner, but no concealer or make-up because 'I'm too young' and it is 'makeup'.

I've seen many girls my age wearing make-up to cover the 'deformities' on their faces and earrings that are bigger than than their eyes. Some girls wear mascara, eyeshadow, everything. No I do not want that.

All I ask of my mom is some concealer and some white nail polish on my fingers. Is that too much for a 12 year old too ask of a mom about to hit her 5o's?

Too young for nail polish or makeup?
You used the word "deformities" which makes me think that you are using makeup as a "corrector" and not as an "enhancer" While I think 12 is way too young anyways-- you should enjoy your skin and learn to appreciate it before you start throwing makeup on it. The last thing you want to do is be in your 20's and have a leather skin face and then you will DEF need the makeup.

My mom was strict when it came to makeup and I thank her for it all the time! I didnt have horrendous acne during puberty, I am 23 and I can go out without makeup on and my skin isnt damaged....I don't have bad pores and most importantly I have learned to enjoy what I have. When I do use makeup its to enhance what I have....not cover stuff up.

Concealer-- is noot the ''be all end all'' you will still see that you have a blemish. it will just clog the pore and make it take longer for it to go away!

Start small with just the nailpolish. Go by her rules for a bit and then work into slightly darker colors.

Your mom is probably scared that youre going to skank out at 13!
Reply:It is definately not too early to wear nail polish. I think you could wear a little make- up as long as you don't over do it. I started to wear make-up when I was 12.
Reply:she just does'nt want you to get used to it at such a young age. you could ask about the nail polish, but don't start on concealer just yet. trust me, once you start you'll be obsessing about every spot on your face every single morning. everyone gets pimples, there's nothing wrong with it.
Reply:you could try asking your mom if you

could use one of those things that get rid of pimples

(like a concealor but they actually help get rid of zits)

some of them are clear but others are coloured.

maybe you could start out with a clear one and ease into

asking your mom for a coloured one which will actually make

the pimples less visible??

personally, i think that coloured, solid nail polish is fine for a 12 year old, but if your mother does not like it, maybe try to negotiate with her to wear skin colour nail polish? (it looks so pretty if you wear it right). if not, then respect your mom's choices, she is your mother after all.
Reply:I think that is a reasonable request for a 12 year old. Im sure high school is approaching for you, and the pressures can be overwhelming. So concealer and nail poilsh seems fairly innocent to me.
Reply:noo!!! well makeup is maybe too young but nail polish is not!!
Reply:My daughter is in 6th grade and she and her friends wear make-up, but I don't allow her to where inappropriate colors, they have to be neutral. Also, she has been getting manicures and pedicures since she was 8. We live in Southern California.
Reply:That is not to young for nail polish at all!!! And if you need some concealer on a few blemishes what's wrong with that? That's what I used then.
Reply:nailpolish is fine! but using stuff like concealers now could damage your skin. instead, have a good diet and cleanse your face well.
Reply:please a twelve year old can wear nail polish. The thing is a twelve year old should only wear lip gloss and not alot. No eyeshadow No eyeliner NO blush NOOOOO lipstick
Reply:I think you should be able to wear white nail polish and some concealer. Explain to your mom that is all you want you are not asking to wear a ton of make up or wild colors on your nails you are only wanting to wear those two things. hopefully she will begin to understand and let you get those things. goodluck.
Reply:Your best bet for nail polish is to stay within natural schemes for now. Don't wear red, dark purples, dark blues...

As long as it's a sheer white and not a totally opaque (you can't see through it) shade that might not be so bad.

Concealer might be a little too much now. It's best to get some Neutrogena clear-up cream. Your skin is still too young to carry something that heavy.

As for make-up goes, I wouldn't say start with foundation just yet. Believe me, it DOES ruin your skin. If you are really craving a make up treat, then get some tinted moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15. Skip powder, and maybe try a little clear mascara and a light lip balm (pink or peach depending on if you're a warm or cool.)

Honestly, a full face of make up on a 12 year old does look strange, and a little too...adult...for someone that young.
Reply:=0 your never too young to wear nail polish.... 3 year old wear nail polish! LOL! and i dunno about the mom just ease into the make-up!
Reply:I dont see anything wrong with concealer but white nail polish might be to loud for a 12 year old. Maybe something more like a sheer pink color.
Reply:no. i am in middle school and i am the same age as you and i wear the following; mascara, concealer, blush, a little bit of eyeliner, lip gloss and light eyeshadow. but, i put it on lightly so it is barely noticeable. as for the nail polish that is kinda strange. talk to your mom about what you want and maybe she will let you

tell her that you don't want nail polish colors like lime green and like really weird colors. she might understand but i don't know.

love always,

Reply:Ok when I was 7 I got to wear solid finger nail polish and just lip gloss but....Since your 12 mabe you should just try light make up like a tan eye shadow or light blush and lip gloss but dont do to like bronzer or concealer you are way too young and plus its to hide black heads and other stuff that you dont have to worry about. - Jamie
Reply:Personally, I believe you're never too young for nail polish..it's nail polish! I don't know your grandma's problem.....

Make-up, there is an age where you're too young. But you're not. A little concealer is perfectly acceptable. If she won't let you wear it steal hers and be like im not too young okay doesnt this look better?
Reply:Wow! That stinks! I wore solid nail polish since like I was little. But like I've been wearing it forever! Then like also I've been wearing make up forever. Like to play with but I started to wear it 6th grade so like I was 12 when I started wearing it to school. I don't think I was to young. It's not like you want to put gallons of it on you're face. Maybe your mom doesn't want to let go out that little girl she see or she thinks far is far and treating you how she was treated. Try talking to her, like make her listen to you.

I hope I helped!!
Reply:ya! i started wearing makeuo in like 7th grade or something and nailpolish long b4 that! concealer...well....its ok but it makes pimples worse to tell u the truth! and do u wanna wear nail polish bcuz ur friends do, or u want to?
