Does nail polish help to cure (toe-nail) fungal infection?

I've been having nail infection for 5 years, and i;ve tried the Daktarin ( miconazole 20mg/mL) for sometime and it didn't work well on me. I am wondering if nail polish work because ( it might sounds funny) i realised that my nail is gettin better after i painted it with nail polish. What other treatments are the most effective besides taking medicines? and what other substances can be used to treat the infection?

Nail polish will only make the symptoms worse as it's covering the infection up. There are no real solutions to treating an infection other than medicine. If you have artificial nails, they will need to come off so the underneath "real" nail can heal properly.
Reply:There is nothing that will cure this infection other than anti biotics. The polish is just hiding the infection.
Reply:I've never know anyone to get 'cured' through wearing nail polish. I was at Sally's the other day and they had quite a few products that you might look at. I was surprised at some of the claims that a few of them made. Might find something worthwhile there!
Reply:i really dont think it does
Reply:Absolutely not.
Reply:they got some stuff for that at walmart
Reply:My brother-in-law used Listerine (yes the mouthwash!) on his toe nails and it worked!! Good luck!
Reply:not that i am aware of.

talk to your dr. about other options to treat your nail infection.

hope this helps.
Reply:i don't think so. nail polish can only hide the infection but not really cure it.
Reply:No. The fungi is internal, try "Lamisil".
