Is black nail polish for girls the new trend?

Ok so..2 girls in my class that are pretty fashionable have their nails painted black. one is preppy and the other one is..slightly ghetto..maybe slightly preppy. i dont know..and then my sister who is preppy has her nails painted black. and then my sister's friend's mom said that black nail polish is the new thing and everyone has black nail polish. and her daughter does too. i guess its true. what do you think?

Its not really a new trend. If anything its a phase.





My school has already gone threw the black nail polish phase.

Reply:It is a bit of a trend. Even People Magazine noticed celebrities wearing black nail polish (http://offtherack.people.com/2006/08/15/... ). Also, in the movie The Devil Wears Prada, you will see the character Emily, played by Emily Blunt, wearing black nail polish throughout the movie.
Reply:its kind of a new look but you have to have short nails to wear black nail polish cause if not you look weird:

Reply:I see some celebrities and models wearing black nail polish but I don't find it all that flattering. Just the color doesn't look right in my opinion on somebodys nails.





Besides, dont just do something to be following a trend.

Reply:I know I've noticed that too!! At my school last year I saw soooo many girls with black nails. I really didn't want to paint my nails black, so I decided to paint them am eggplant color. I read in a magazine that lots of stars have dark colored nails. It said that if you want to paint them, paint them black, dark brown, burgandy, or eggplant color and keep your nails short. Short is chic long is trashy for dark nails.
Reply:I personally think black nail polish is HURENDOUS, but it seems to be pretty in. If you like it, than you should wear it. But don't give in to peer pressure if you don't like it and decide to wear it because everyoune else does.

Reply:Truly, I think that its what you are feeling. The way you put it, it sounds like the people are probably following. I wear black nail polish because balck=attitude. So, I don't think balck nail polish is in. Goths have been wearing it forever. So how can that be?
Reply:Kinda, AND U DONT LOOK LIKE A GOTH with black nail polish, Im a prep and I wear it... I just think it looks pretty and elegant :-)
