Is nail polish good or bad for your nails?

I love to paint my nails! But im worrying if it damages my nails! I also really want my nails to get stronger and longer and i think have nail polish on my nails will help but i dont want to risk anything. Does anyone know the answer if its good or bad? Also, does anyone know any nails polishes that are really great and good for the nails?

Is nail polish good or bad for your nails?
It is both good and bad. Nail polish, applied correctly with a base coat, 2-3 layers of polish and topcoat, offers a hard protective coating to nails so that breakage is lessened. However, constantly polished nails become weaker with time. The nails themselves don't have to be as strong since they are being protected by layers of polish. I like to let my nails breathe for a few days after 2 or 3 polishings. (Is that a word?) :) It keeps them from getting too dependent on the extra protection and allows time for conditioning between applications. I opt for a more expensive base/top coat with less emphasis on the color coat.
Reply:NAIL POLLISH ISNT BAD! BUT IT CAN CAOUSE CANCER! THE REASON IT CAUSES CANCER IS BECAUSE THE NAIL POLISH GETS INTO YOUR BLOOD! BUT THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET CANCER IS IF YOU NEVER TAKE OFF NAIL POLISH! LIKE IF YOU ALWAYS KEEP NAIL POLISH ON! Report It

Reply:LOL, nail polish can not cause cancer.... Report It

Reply:Well even though they may be good for your nails there not good for your health. The same thing found in nail polish (Acetone) is the same chemicals found in ciggarettes.
Reply:ALWAYS use acetone-free remover. Keep your nails polished at all times because it keeps them from getting damaged. Start with a moisturizing base coat, like Nailtek (great stuff), then polish and keep topcoating every other day.
Reply:i think it is good for them. well scratch that.. they might be.. idk.. lol but i do know that acrilic nails are bad.. i think that nail polish should be ok tho..

Black nail polish?

I just painted my nails black becaus ei think it is kida cute. My bbf hates the black nail polish. I not goth or anything i just like it.. what i ur opinion of black nial polish? Guys opinions would be great too.

Black nail polish?
i luv black polish %26amp; wear it all the time!!! my bf luvs it too!!! do what u want, be an individual!!!
Reply:hey i wear black nail polish all the time, and im the FARTHEST thing from goth or emo.... i personally think it looks good and i like it.... :0) good luck
Reply:I like it. I think its cute, I guess.
Reply:It is seen by many as being a goth thing but just because you wear it doesn't mean you're goth. I'm a guy and like to wear it from time to time. I'm not goth but just like the way it looks as long as it's not chipped. I wore my nails kinda medium long and squared painted black for last halloween. I kinda got used to it, they were fake nails and I wore them regularly for quite a while. Some girls who noticed seemed to be intrigued. However I don't think I'll be doing that for a while, found it hard to type and do stuff. Shorter is better. Black nail polish is still cool.
Reply:i like it
Reply:I think it has some negative connotations for some people because a lot of "goth" or "punk" styles go with it. Depending on what you wear with with the nail polish, it can look tacky or elegant.
Reply:not chipped AT ALL on short well manicured nails is cute. but chipped or on longer nails is either tacky, ugly or goth looking. you could try really dark maroon or grey instead of black too.
Reply:I love black nail polish.

it's so cute.
Reply:sorry not a guy! lol but i think black nail polish used to be a goth thing.. and im sure in some ways it still is, but its also become really trendy and chic recently.. so i think its cute!! sometimes i wear it, and then put on a light coat of something shimmery or sparkly over it just to make it girlier lol.. my favorite is black nail polish with a red sparkle over it.. its really cute!
Reply:Hey! well i doubt anyone would think you are a goth just because you wear black nail polish. Anyone can wear black nailpolish, its just the question of does it suit you or not! I'm sure it dus as you think so. Dont worry about a thing!!!! gd luk on your nailpolish dilema! lol :) x

How long should you keep nail polish before throwing it out?

I found some polish on a shelf of miscellaneous bathroom items in my linen closet. I know I've had it for a while, I'm not sure how long, but should I use it? A couple bottles are newer and barely used and I like the color, I'd hate to throw them out. I have had a past experience with old nail polish remover about a year ago, as I don't get all girly all the time. The old polish remover literally ate the skin off of my fingertips, had to go to the ER, and be bandaged up for about 1-1 1/2 weeks until they healed on top of using a cream for it. Wasn't good at all, and still don't have feeling in my fingertips the way I used too. I do, just not as great as before. I don't want nail polish to maybe do the same thing. So is it safe to use or should I just toss them to be safe, than sorry?

How long should you keep nail polish before throwing it out?
Nail polish usually only gets thicker with age, and the pigment becomes more difficult to redistribute evenly into the base. Try shaking it to see if the polish goes smoothly back into solution, and try applying a coat on one nail to see how thick it is. If it doesn't mix, or it's too thick, toss it.
Reply:Nail polish remover is "acetone"---a dangerous liquid that can do just what it did to your fingers. So when it heals, keep the nails shiny and trimmed---but NO polish. You obviously cannot tolerate the remover so don't do any decorating--the polish chips and looks crummy after a day or two. Avoid any further risky experiments with these items. Natural nails that are trimmed and well kept are very attractive.
Reply:i think it would be fine to use them you just should shake it then test it on a piece of paper or something to see if the color is still good and to make your nail polish last longer you can put them in the fridge.

If i have a polish ancestry visa, can i work in the eu?

I currently have a belarussian passport. My grandparents were polish but they moved to belarus during WW II. Their passports still say that their nationalit is polish. I have heard that poland has started issuing ancestry visa's to people in my situation. Would anyone be able to tell me if I have a polish ancestry visa, can I work in the EU ??? Many Thanks.

If i have a polish ancestry visa, can i work in the eu?
Hello. No with polish ancestry visa you are eligible to work just in Poland. You would have to be considered polish citizen to be able to work in EU. And since there are still set some temporary holding periods for certain younger countries of EU, you would not be able to work everywhere anyways. For example UK lets work there anyone from EU but Germany offers this just for the "old" EU countries and young EU countries citizens are eligible to work just in certain branches on working permits.
Reply:Yea!!! Come on in. Everyone else is jumping on the band wagon, and catching the gravy train, sadly, it's the British workers, who foot the bill!!!! I have Russian Grandmother, could I move to Russia??? Could I bugger!!!! Only in Britain, onlly in Britain!!!!!

How to renew a polish passport?

I have been on the Polish Embacy website for the UK, and have found absolutely no information on how to renew my wifes Polish passport. I have also tried to call them, but after three hours of noone answering the phone I gave up. Does anyone know how ot renew a Polish Passport from the UK?

How to renew a polish passport?
My husband is non-EU living here in the Netherlands and had to renew his passport a few months ago and actually it was surprisingly easy and there isn't even an embassy for him here in the Netherlands - but he filled in the form, sent it to the one in Belgium (which covers NL as well) and then 3 weeks later he went to pick it up (they send someone to NL once a week for consular business).

I don't speak Polish but just quickly checked using google translate (via webpage option) http://www.google.com/translate_t

There is a page (only in Polish and not English) on passports renewals and it looks to be a similar process. Take a look at this, http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3... and then maybe if you are still struggling you can contact them via Email rather than phone (btw as it is Friday afternoon it can be they've taken an early weekend or something..... if only it were that easy for the rest of us! - it is mentioned on the site that they were closed yesterday and will be tomorrow so I guess some staff may have made it an extra long weekend's holiday and hence the problem getting through today - so you can also try by phone on Tues/Weds next week)

Anyway, hope this helps a bit

Good luck
Reply:yes the english version does not include how to renew your passport - go to the polish version (see 1st link)

phone contact is bad because when the consulate is open the visa and passport workers are at the windows seeing people who have queued (and so not answering the phones)

I think you can do it all by post but if you do go in person, go early because they if you do not get in by closing time (2nd link gives opening times) you have to come back another day even if you are in the queue
Reply:Sorry mate, but it looks lie you'll have to do it the old fashioned way. In person. Check with the nearest Polish Embassy or Consulate in London.
Reply:she has to go polish embassy and write an application, she should has with her 3 photo.

Keep nail polish from peeling?

i just painted my nails and the nail polish keeps starting to peel. i painted it in a french manicure sort of way and i put on this top coat [its called sally hansen mega shine extended wear top coat] and around the egdes it starts to peel so i apply a new coat to keep it from peeling. how do i make the nail polish stay and not start peeling?

Keep nail polish from peeling?
Get a hard wear non peeling nail polish. Sally Hansen doesn't work by the way, I bought some and it chipped in a day, so I feel your pain. If that brand works, get a top coat in the same brand.
Reply:I use this:

http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?p...

Once you put 1 coat on nails wait 2 mins then soak hands under cold water for about 30 to 40 seconds then pat dry

if you want to do a second coat and repeat the soaking!

Don't worry it comes in differnet colors look at the bottom of the link page and change the colors!
Reply:Actually..its sorta like painting a piece of wood.. you have to sand the area you want to paint before you paint.

you need to rough up your nail. If you don't hardly paint your nails you will build up certain oils in your nail which causes the polish to not stick.
Reply:I agree, you have to use a strong top coat. But you also have to be careful, i.e. when you clean or do dishes, make sure that you wear rubber gloves. Plus try not to do laundry on the night that you do your manicure, otherwise your nail polish will tend to chip.
Reply:Apply 2-3 thin layers of nail polish, then apply 1 layer of clear top coat to seal it in. For best results, apply a thin, clear top coat everyday. Also, use a base coat for a nice canvas.
Reply:Clear nail polish will help and you may want to put a coat on every day to freshen up the shine thats what I do and it works better for me. Hope this helps.....
Reply:Well like some nail polish, from the company they are from...The company doesn't always make the nail polish stay on for a while so pick a better company or just be careful with your nails.
Reply:I put a base coat [clear] on then i apply my nail color then i apply a clear top coat. it doesnt chip for weeks!

What are polish girls into?????

long story short... met a polish girl in the UK...very hot...very cool, wanna take her out but just wanna know what polish people (mainly girls) are interested in, the culture, heritage, things to impress! thanks.

What are polish girls into?????
is there a difference between polish girls and british girls ? or french/german/italian.... girls ? I dont think so....just be yourself and everything will be fine. dont pretend to be someone else coz she should like you the way you are...so behave naturally and start learning polish =)

Guys + nail polish?

This is kind of a weird question, but guys: does the colour of a girl's nail affect what you think about her? Like if she wears black nail polish, do you think of her as goth? Or if she wears pink, do you see her as a girly-girl?

Also, what is your favourite colour of nail polish to see on a girl?

** I put this in this category because I know guys won't be looking in the "Beauty" section of YA.

Guys + nail polish?
The color does have an initial impact. It's a first impression thing. After the initial impact, it doesn't really influence me. Sometimes it will influence my mood as it can be a distraction. Instead of thinking of her, I might be thinking of how terrible the color is on her. It's more of a reflexive than conscious decision. I prefer reds, pinks, pear like colors. I like softer rather than brilliant.

You should understand that this is personal. Using fishing as an analogy, use the correct bait for the type of fish you want to catch. You might not want a guy like me. Don't put bait out for me.

Try to enjoy yourself. Nail polish is temporary. Have fun with it. Clothing is another accessory to consider. Does the polish fit the clothes or the situation? I would not want help slopping the hogs if she's going to wear that...kind of reaction. The hogs don't care, but it would feel strange to me.
Reply:ya but i like black and red best

but bright colors wud be better

and ive seen preppy girly-girls with black nail polish but it looked hiddeus on her

Best nail polish?

what is the best brand of nail polish that won't chip or come off? also what are the best nail polish colors for summer an spring????

Best nail polish?
In my experience, OPI is the worst and China Glaze is the best. I have had OPI chip completely off within a day and China Glaze didn't budge for 3 weeks. That is with base coats and top coats applied.
Reply:Well, stay away from Maybelliene Quickdry, that stuff chips after a couple hours, no joke. I think NYC, 99 cents a bottle, works very well if you apply it right (1 base, 2 color, 1 top). And color really depends on your skin tone. If you have dark/medium skin, gold, bronze, black, and brownish hues work well, while fair skin looks good with shimmery neons and pinks. And for pale people, I wear ruby and crimson-hued colors.
Reply:sometimes it isnt about the brand but about the prep work try using a 4 way buffer 1st then a base coat 2 coats of colour then a top coat kepp putting 1 coat of coulor in a day till yr ready to change this should keep it on 4 longer this yr pastles are big hot pinks and belive it or not blue
Reply:I usually use Dior and Lancome.. they are good

How to get nail polish off my computer?

I accidently brushed my wet nail against the edge of my mac. I wasn't too worried because I assumed it would come off with nail polish remover. I applied the remover about a minute later and instead of getting rid of the red polish it just turned it into a pink blob. also the area around the polish has a neon yellow tinge because of the remover.

Does anyone know what could remove the stain? I tried PC Quick Wipes, but obviously they were useless. help!

Growing nails without nail polish?

I've been trying to grow my nails for ages now.

I find that I can make them grow best over holidays, when I can wear nail polish. However, I attend a private school where they don't let us wear coloured nail polish.

We can wear clear nail polish, but I seem to 'bite' it all off before the end of second period. I don't actually bite my nails when I do this.

The problem I get is when I'm really bored, I just focus on my nails a lot. And when they start getting long, I'll always play with them and they end up breaking.

Any advice? Anyone who's been able to stop this happening?

(sorry if this question didn't make a lot of sense)

Growing nails without nail polish?
Why not invest in some nail-strengthening nail polish.

some brands also have a discusting taste to stop you biting them.

I used to bite my nails CONSTANTLY because of bordem but now they're really long!

I used Sally Hanson nail polishes. They're long lasting and there's a large variety.

Also, if nail polish REALLY doesn't work for you your best bet is to drink plenty of milk which strengthens nails.!

good luck! :)

hope that helped.

Not black but a black red or black purple (red is classic and purple is a comlimentary color to green). It will look like your not trying to be matchy matchy which is great.

Last resort... ivory with shimmer (not sparkle). Its the fall to color!!

Reply:Do an off-white if you can find one. If not, do a white with a silver tip.
Reply:It depends on what type of green, if its a natural, earthy green, I would even go as far as a deep, sparkly brown. If its more of a teal or something, I would keep it simple with a french manicure. or pearl.
Reply:light pink or white would be pretty and wouldn't clash with the dress. :)

Question about polish army || need help really quick?

well my question might sound a little stupid but at what age they are taking guy to army in poland??

im polish im 17 now

but i live in USA for 3 years now i really forgot about that and theres no way in hell im gonna go to army i talked with some of my polish friend that also live outside of poland and thye say that they will go to "check out " of where they were living so the army wont get to them

im planing on doing the same thing

if that will help somehow

Question about polish army || need help really quick?
There used to be mandatory conscription to join the army in the Netherlands which ended 1996, but I have friends who tried to find ways around it, but very few managed unless they had genuine medical reasons, but maybe the rules in Poland are less stringent

Looking at wikipedia it mentions that it is 18, BUT it also says that it will end 2009. One page says it will end 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_army but another says it is éxpected' to end. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_se... In this same paragraph it mentions how many Polish guys moved abroad within the EU to avoid this service - so maybe by being in the US it is no longer mandatory anyway

Maybe someone with more knowledge will see your question and can confirm with more info, but before you go to lengths to avoid it, then check if it is actually going to be mandory for you e.g. there is a contact mail on this site (of course it is smarter to use a freemail account without your name just in case) http://www.army.mil.pl/eng/eng.html

Good luck
Reply:I don't think it applies to you because you live outside of Poland. But if it does, you are supposed to go to the army when you are like 18 and up. My uncle didn't want to go either so he just continued school, and they can't pull him out of there lol. Good Luck!!

Spilled nail polish remover on a wooden table?

I was doing my nails when i accidentally spilled nail polish remover on my new wooden bedside table. I really loved the table and it costs me a lot. And I also couldn't get it refurnished, too expensive. The nail polish remover looks kind of "above" the table and didn't make a hole on the table however. But it's still a stain and it's really hard to hide it. Any possible effective ways to make it disappear and gone with just a simple quick way with simple tools?

Spilled nail polish remover on a wooden table?
Piano dealers use touch up specialist to fix gouges or damage to pianos. They can do miracles, but they don't work cheap. You could call a large piano store to get a name of someone just to see what it will cost.

The only other way is to refinish the entire top. As you know, everything is expensive these days, but I have learned from personal experience that to fix a flaw like you describe can only be done by a professional. Anything short of that will only make it look worse.

If you don't have a fat wallet, perhaps you could get a sticky-back paper dot that is some acceptable color and just stick it over the flaw.

keep your cell phone on it. That was a lousy idea :) :) :)

Good Luck!
Reply:Get it refinished or cover it up with a doily.

Is nail polish remover harmful for plastic?does it change plastic's colour?
On your shoes, I'm not sure if it is plastic or rubber or some blend of the two.

In general, many plastics can be altered with acetone (typical polish remover). You might try the "other" kind of polish remover (i.e., non-acetone) or test a small area to see if you see color changes.

I'm not too sure of acetone / rubber interactions, but probably not good either.
Reply:Acetone remover will "melt" shoes. Try the non acetone kind. Report It

Reply:i work with eyeglasses and if acetone touches the plastic frame, it will mess them up Report It

Reply:YES Report It

Reply:no bleach will polish remover no
Reply:well, if it does stain them, you can always paint over that again
Reply:THe active ingredient in nail polish remover is acetone, the stuff eats throug alot of thigns, plastic, CDs, styrafoam. If you like your shoes, do not risk it.
Reply:Acetone (used in a lot of nail polish remover) does change the color of plastic. I once spilled some in my car and it discolored the cup holder in the center console. I had to spend like 50 bucks to replace the part.
Reply:As far as I know it does not..

Why do Polish men have square heads?

Ok, first let me start by saying that I live in poland and have NOTHING against polish people AND this does NOT apply to everyone here, just enough to make it a valid question - i've been noticing something very odd about polish men a) many have very big rectangular foreheads - and tops of heads. b) the top part of their heads is actually much bigger than the bottom, giving them a "brainiac" effect, visually speaking. c) the back of their heads is often flat too! one of my friends said this might be caused by lying in a crib (pram) on their backs, without proper padding, when they were infants... but this still doesn't explain the wide-screen forehead phonomenon. thanks, and again, i don't mean to offend anyone.

Why do Polish men have square heads?
It must be genetic, these eastern European races don't integrate with other nationalities as much as Northern, Western and Southern Europeans because until recently they were behind the iron curtain, so if there is any traits you are more likely to see them in Eastern Europeans because they are less of a mixed race. The women must have rectangular foreheads too, you are most properly right, but I am sure not everyone in Poland has this genetic makeup.
Reply:and for the person who posted that last entry - you're mostly talking about personality traits. i mean we CAN discuss this - most of my polish girlfriends agree that polish men are some of the most macho and emotionally-stunted they have ever seen - and as a whole completely lacking in any wit Report It

Reply:It comes from them slamming them on their desks when they see questions like this.

(besides I thought the term square head referred to Swedes working in the lumbering industry in Michigan)
Reply:I can't say I have noticed this......
Reply:Ok first let me start by saying that I live in england and have nothing against english people and does not apply to everyone here, just enough to make this a valid rhetorical question.

I have been noting that English men have in general spaghetti string penises, large bellies, and in general can only pull pig ugly women, who they impregnate and leave.

They can't handle the responsibility of bringing up a child and cause the phenomenen of one parent families and cause a drain on society. They cause a burden on the overall benefit system as a whole.

In addition, they seem to curdle like babies when confronted. Whilst I know that they eat a lot of pies, this doesn't explain their overall lack of charm, relatively low level of intelligence and low levels of wit the english nation has as a whole. Neither does it explain why english men make incredibly bad lovers. Can anybody explain this?

Thanks and again I don't mean to offend anyone, after all its only a laugh!!!!!!

Reply:Damn! It's true. I'm in Krakow, Poland just now on business and I noticed this first thing! I don't know if I'd describe the shape as square but there seems to be a common trait among the men here. Some of the women as well! But the women, man the women. The guys though, they seem to have big broad foreheads, and a big flat spot on the backs of their heads. They kind of look a 52 inch Magnavox. Just my input and no offence intended here either. Interesting question!

Is there any kind of nail polish that is safe for babies?

I have a 6 month old baby girl and I was curious if there are any natural nail polishes that are safe that I can use on her nails. There are a couple of reasons I am asking. 1, yes it would be fun, she is my first girl. 2, she has hardly any hair and people always ask me if she is a boy or assume she is a boy since I have all boys. 3, I would like to paint my fingernails as well, but she does bite on my fingers since she is teething and I wouldn't want to have nail polish on my fingernails that would be harmful to her. I know that regular nail polish is not safe, especially since she is constantly putting her fingers in her mouth and she does suck her thumb. But I am wondering is there a such thing as a safe natural nail polish for a baby?

Is there any kind of nail polish that is safe for babies?
if you're up for it, pierce her ears! my mom had mine pierced when i was 2 months old...and i was a bald baby! nonetheless, you could look into henna (no, i'm not a hippie, but it's all natural and it's more of a dye than paint)... anyhow, frilly dresses, sparkly headbands, cute tights and adorable shoes are always a plus for baby girls!
Reply:No there is not.... and painting a babies nails is just wrong on so many levels.... Don't you realize that whatever you put on her nails will be absorbed into her body through the nails?

Try sticking a bow on her head. If she doesn't have any hair, KY jelly works good to keep it stuck on there. Don't worry, people always mistake babies genders. It's nothing personal. I don't mean to sound harsh, but it just isn't right to paint her nails. I understand that it's exciting to have a baby girl and dress her up and stuff... but painting her nails is going a little beyond that.
Reply:Get the polish made for dogs nails. I know it may sound weird but they are much safer and can be used on little babies.
Reply:Hi,

I had the same feelings with my daughter who is two now, it was quiet annoying some times when people ask whether she was a boy even when her ears were pierced! Its better not to use nail polish on her finger nails since it can harm her tender nails and cuticles but you can use henna which is safe and which we use here in south Asia for almost any beauty or medical needs. Let me know if you need to know any thing about Henna.
Reply:People are going to get your child's gender incorrect no matter what you do. Don't do anything just because you want people to see them as the correct gender. Trust me, it won't matter, and people will still get it wrong. Your baby certainly doesn't care!

I remember standing in church with my daughter, she was about four months old. She was absolutely dripping with pink satin, tulle, and sequins, complete with a pink ribbon on her head and little pink satin shoes.

A little old lady came up, grabbed her hand and said "Awww, isn't he cute!"

I wouldn't put fingernail polish on a baby, though. They're so small, and those hands spend a lot of time in their mouths, so they're likely to eat the polish off. Eating nail polish isn't good for anyone. There's plenty of time for nail polish, trust me.
Reply:There's nothing wrong with it, I painted my daughter's toenails, I never did her nails, because I didn't want her to stick them in her mouth. But I did her toenails, and people always noticed and thought it was cute! And as far as how you would get it off? Her nails are tiny..it'd wear off in a couple weeks!
Reply:Wow.. some people on here. It's their way or the highway huh?! LOL!! Well no nail polish is totally safe, but this kind is the best if you choose to paint her nails.

It's all natural. ♥
Reply:LMAO people on this site kill me...waaaaay too uptight. there is nothing wrong with painting a babies nails if you find some nail polish that is safe. its pretty much the same as ear piercing.
Reply:Fingernail polish contains LEAD. If you put it on her fingers, it will find its way into her mouth. Lead-based poisoning is VERY serious and not something I would risk for my child. Her toenails are less likely to find their way into her mouth.

Can nail polish damage nails?

the other day while out shopping i was accosted by a lady trying to sell very expensive nail treatment kits (£25!). needless to say i politely turned her down but before i went on my merry way she asked me to remove the polish i was wearing (french manicure pink) as the glue and other assorted chemicals can damage nails very badly. is this true or is nail polish safe to use?

Can nail polish damage nails?
i can't see how it could damage you nails. nails are already dead. but just to be sure, ask an older woman who polished hers regularly and see how hers are. I've never heard of anyone having problems.
Reply:nail polish will damage your nails if its left on to long and put on without a base coat you really should take it off and reapply every week
Reply:Most modern polishes don't damage your nails, but the glue used to attach false nails will do a lot of damage, I know the kit the lady was trying to sell you, she was only quoting the information she had been given, not very accurate. My grandmother wore nail polish everyday of her life and had the best, strongest nails of anyone I have ever known. So long as you buy good quality polish, it will never harm your nails.
Reply:if your nails become yellow it means there is not enough oxygen getting to your nail bed and it can result in fungal infections.

lightly buff your natual nail to remove any oil from the surface of the nail before you apply your polish.

alwyas use a nail polish remover which has vitamin e or keratin in it
Reply:Nail polish is the same as car paint. Nail polish can discolor the nail. Darker colors will do this more so then lighter color. A french manicure will not make your nails yellow because the colors or very light. A base coat will help with the nail polish form turning the nail yellow. If your worried about your nails drying out use a formaldehyd free products.

Beware of Beauty Counters. Those sales associates are trying to sell you. Half the time they doesn't know what they are talking about except what the cosmetic company has taught them. I hope I helped you out.
Reply:yes no yes
Reply:In my experience, yes it is damaging if you don't give your nails a rest after a while. My nails became yellow after wearing polish constantly for months.Let them get some air once in a while!
Reply:If you wear nail polish 7days a week without removing it ,when you rempve it you will see that your nails turn to yellow colour. Perhaps lack of oxygen is the reason.

You can remove it at nights and in the morning do it again.
Reply:Nail polish can turn your nails yellow, but this can be prevented if you use a colourless protective coat before applying the colour varnish. There are also some varnishes and products we use to remove the polish that cause white "shadows"(spots) on the nails or make them peel, but that depends on how good the product is and how sensitive your nails are.If you use good products and you know your nails don't peel off every time you remove the polish, then you won't have a problem.
Reply:Hi, i know some nail varnished can damage your nails and make them brittle especialy if you dont use a conditoning nail basecoat first before applying your nail varnish. Also you have to use a conditioning hand and nail cream. But if you use dark nail varnish then it does make you nails go yellow over time as it stains the nail even though you use nail varnish remover. But people have been wearing nail varnish for years and it hasnt botherd them. I think the lady was just trying to worry you because you didnt by her nail varnish, which is probably ten times as worse filled with loads of chemicals, so there is no need to worry.
Reply:Nail polish is made from chemicals which can be harmful if used for a long period of time. Your nails will start to go yellow and become damaged if you are allergic to the types of glue used in some manicure do-it-yourself packs.

I would give your nails a rest now or then.
Reply:if you use it too much it will damage your nails.
Reply:its not the varnish that harms the nails.

glue does, as it takes a surface of you nail off also.

and some removers damage it.

never pick your varnish no matter how tempting as again takes a surface of nail.

but all in all not that bad carry on!!!!

;-)
Reply:That is not true based on the fact that the new generations's nail polishes are made to protect and nourish the nails. The only thing that can in a way spoil nails is when u polish them with intense colours like red without using a base can get yellow...

I think she was trying hard to sell nail treatment kits to you.
Reply:It's true. You have to take it off and give your nails good treatment constantly if you must wear polish often.

Would nail polish affect our health??

I love nail polish especially bright colors or black, it makes your nails not that crappy. And i change the color almost every two or three days. But i am worried with the strong smell of nail polish and chemical thingy in them, would they affect our health in a long run?

Would nail polish affect our health??
It is not safe to inhale any chemical and do not listen what corporate America tells you.

If you must continue your habit, try doing outside on the porch with the breeze at your back.

If you have to indoors, do it close to a opened window with a fan on low at your back to blow the fumes outside.

There are some people that will disagree with my comments. However, when growing up I knew a bunch of guys that worked at the full service gas stations (guys that filled your gas tank, washed your windshield, and checked your oil for you) and guess what, they all died between the ages of 50-60 with cancer. ALL OF THEM.

Of course the average person does not breathe in chemical fumes 8 hours a day but you should also avoid that situation as much as you can.

Good question, I think you need a gold star!

GOOD LUCK!

Who thinks Polish will soon be taught as part ...?

of the school cirriculum ?? My daughter attends college and she says there are around 28 Poles in her class who are struggling with communication .It is an entry to further education course . I mean we have been flooded with Polish folks lately , i am NOT complaining !! Just saying watch this space for learning Polish in school ... what do you think ?

Who thinks Polish will soon be taught as part ...?
I think as the UK becomes more reflective of wider european society we will see a larger choice of languages available. When I was at school it was only french and german, but I think a wider range of european languages should be taught from an early age. I think it would help stimulate educational achievements and development from an early age, and will enable young people growing up in the UK today to work not only in a wider variety of jobs, but countries also. It is quite embarrasing that there are more non-british europeans who can speak english, than british europeans who can speak a language other than english!
Reply:In our school the children already learn both English and Welsh in an attempt to keep the language alive

They learn of other countries too, their cultures and traditions

I can't see them having to learn Polish though

We never learnt Hindi when all the Indians came to Britain in the 80s and 90s

And we never learnt any African language when they all came over in the 60s I think you are worrying too much

Britain, like many other generous countries, will always have their influxes of foreign nationals coming in.

English remains the language of business worldwide and unless this changes, I can't see the powers that be pressuring our children to learn any other foreign language
Reply:ooooooooohhhhhhhh dear i ve got real mixed opinions about this question, it could be worse- we could all learn persian or iraqi or whatever but the poles are eating his country alive at the minute.
Reply:hmm i think its a great chance to learn this language. i was staying in poland for 4 months and learned a bit of polish...its a hard language but very usefull in some areas

i would say, if your daughter has the chance to learn it, do it cause it can be useful in the future
Reply:hmm - its depressing
Reply:On my side of the pond--it is Spanish.I am one of the few Americans who does not have a problem with children getting a bilingual education.I think it enriches the learning experience.
Reply:where do you live?
Reply:Its not likely for public schools. There are no plans for an AP test. There are many Polish-English private schools in cities.
Reply:Why not? There is no real reason why German and French should be the only standard languages. Why shouldn't our children be given the opportunity to learn different languages?
Reply:I am almost half polish, and studied Polish for a short time in grammar school, wish I would have paid more attention though.

Learning a different language definitely has its advantages, and people who say "learn English",don't even know the language well enough themselves to be so pious.
Reply:Better they learn English.

Anyone speak Polish? Need help please...?

I have a new Polish girlfriend and I want to give her a gift with the words "From me to you" on it. Can anyone please translate that into Polish for me?

Thanks!

Anyone speak Polish? Need help please...?
Literally it's: Ode mnie dla Ciebie

but more common is: Dla Ciebie ode mnie (it's like To you from me, but in Polish it does have sense).

Remove nail polish?

How would I remove nail polish that was spilled on a blanket? Would nail polish remover take the color out of the blanket's fabric? Help please!

Remove nail polish?
acetone polish remover and other polish removers may melt a synthetic fabric , cotton will not melt but you may get color loss.

do a small test on the corner or less noticeable section of the blanket before you do the actual spot.

There is a product called "mess master" by design master paints you can get it at hobby type stores. it is an aerosol product that removes all types of paints, varnishes, glue etc.

You might want to try removing the spot with that.

When you try to remove the spot, have plenty of clean absorbent fabric or papertowels to remove the polish as it is liquified.

need more suggestions?
Reply:Scrape the excess. Test acetone on an inconspicuous place. If fiber color doesn't change, flush acetone through the stain to an absorbent pad. When no more stain is being removed, change pads and flush well with dry-cleaning solvent. Allow to dry thoroughly
Reply:If the blanket is made from some synthetic fibers it is possible that the nail polish remover, which is really acetone, could melt the fibers. Do a test on a tiny corner first.

What is likely to happen is the acetone will dissolve the nail polish remover and the thinned polish will soak in and spread over an even bigger area, so if you have a little red dab right now you might end up with a big light pink spot.

Want to polish HARDWOOD FLOOR by myself. I think that I can do it, but HOW?

Just bought a house. Made awesome deal. But there is only one problem that hardwood floors are in very bad condition; I mean it needs polish very badly. I don’t know how many years ago they polished it last time. After paying for 20% down for the house and appliances the budget is very tight, so I thought that my husband and me should do it by our self. I know we can do it. So guys please help. Give me some links to get info how to do it? And need tips from your experience too. And for supplies, HOME DEPOT or WHAT? What is the best store for supplies? Thanks a lotttttttt in advance. 5 star promise for help. But more then that, my blessings for you all.

Want to polish HARDWOOD FLOOR by myself. I think that I can do it, but HOW?
Hello, I personally refinished all the floors in our older home as well. When you say polish, are you lookin' for just a protective finish? or do they need to be 'resurfaced? If just a finish is all you need, then I recommend a trip to lowes paint dept. Ask for the mgr. they will have the most training in this area. They should be able to direct you to the best paste wax product for you needs. However if they are needing to be resurfaced, and they don't have stain damage, the easiest way is to use a 'stripping agent' (It's like a glorified nail polish remover) My preference is one made by JASCO. It's called FURNITURE REFINISHER. Comes in a wood grain gallon sized can. Used to be able to get it at Orchard Supply Hardware. If you can't find it at the store or online, my second recommendation is a similar product made by FORMBY"S that is also a furniture refinisher. You'll also need a few pkgs. of steel wool. comes in varying degrees of coarseness. I recommend # 3- to OO. #3 for the stubborn areas. You'll need at least 1 to 2 pkgs. of each grade of steel wool. whatever you don't use, you can return. I find it to be easier to return 'after' the project is done, not somewhere in the middle of it . (I hate interruptions) Anyway, your steps will be...#1 dip steel wool in old bowl of F.R. solution. (just like you would a scrub brush, if you were cleanin' the floor.) spread ot the solution in a circular motion, let it sit and soak for a minute or two. This will loosen any old varnish from the floor. As you begin to 'scour' , the gunk will start to get trapped in your 'pad. #2 go over the same are with the next grade of steel wool , following the same procedure. then wipe with rags or paper towels. I use the VIVA ones, because they are the most absorbant. When you have done these steps for the whole floor, then you need to take a clean rag and using the solution, pouring a little on the areas of the floor at a time then wiping with the clean rags . You may have to change rags often. to getoff any leftover residue. It's like a rinse cycle. Let that dry for I'd say at least six hrs., depending on your humidity. Once it is somewhat fume free you can apply a MINWAX stain if you want to alter the shade. If not then I recommend either a wax polish or a sealing polyurythane finish. It comes in a variety of sheens from matte to high gloss. You just brush it on with a clean, quality, fair sized brush. This product comes in gallon cans just like paint. You can find it at Either Lowes or Home depot. I think it's made by,MINWAX or FLECTO. Either one will do Just be sure to look for the one that's made for floors. It's a POLYURYTHANE. Follow the directions on the can. You can also get backup info at LOWES. Wish I were there to help get ya' started! It is alot easier than most people think. Oh yeah, make sure to pick up a couple of those disposable white respirator masks. and be sure to open the windows for ventilation an to speed up the drying time. Hope this helps! {:-) Sincerely, Rose P.S. If you have any further questions, you can email me.
Reply:Are you talking about sanding and refinishing?
Reply:Normally, when someone says that they are polishing the floor, it means that are waxing the floor.

From the question, I think that you are talking about stripping and revarnishing it.

Rent a power sander from a rental company and strip the floor. Clean all the dust up and use a tack rag to get up the rest. Now you will want to stain the wood or you can use a stain mixed with varnish. I used a polyurethane varnish for longer wear and a shiny finish. It is not that hard but it is some work, so be prepared. good luck.

How to polish a knob?

Thinking of polishing some knobs around the house. Is there any special type of lubricant or polish to use for this? They seem to dull out over time. Thanks for your kind replies..

How to polish a knob?
You would have to ask my one friend's sister. She is an expert at polishing many knobs, she did a great job on mine.
Reply:Depends on the knob material. If yellow brass, then you can several types of solvents that will brighten it up. If it is oil rubbed brass (antiqued or dark bronze), then you can get a spray paint in the color of Duranotic Bronze. Spray a heavy coat on the knob, then wipe off and repeat until desired color is achieved.

Cover the knob with a lacquer to finish. If the knob has the key cylinder, write me and I'll tell you how to get it out so you don't ruin it with paint and lacquer.
Reply:ask your sister
Reply:I use MAAS for pretty much anything that needs to be polished. It holds up for quite a while and does a brilliant job. A little goes a long way. Look at Wal-Mart in the cleaning isle. It is in a silver tube.
Reply:if this lagit once u polish it spray them with laquor. u can give it 4 or5 coats in minutes, it dries quick %26amp; is durable

Can someone help me with nail polish?

I want to know if their are any brands of nail polish that show up on black nail polish. I've asked one nail salon, but they have no clue. Like, I want my base color black and I wanted to do designs in a different color(red, purple and so on) But I don't know where to find them or get them. I want the red or other colors to actually show on top of the black. What type of nail polish could I buy?Is it like 'gel' type nail polish or something that gets the bright effect on any color? No matter what kind it is, I need(want) it. Or should I just burst out with a can of paint? lol.

Please help!

Can someone help me with nail polish?
Nail salons use some sort of nail paint which is likely what you are looking for...they use it to paint designs (like flowers) on top of painted nails. I have had them paint flowers on top of a very deep, red polish before, and it showed up really well. Maybe they sell it at a salon near you, or they may be nice enough to at least point you in the right direction. Good luck! :)
Reply:metallic polish work real nice
Reply:well, i paint my nails black and then put red poka dots on it. i use "orly" nail lacquer and i get it at sally's. it last long and its strong so it doesn't look clear or watery
Reply:use one of those nail pens. i dont know where to get them, but u wait til the black drys then write over it. you might want to try asking a salon if theyve heard of those!

good luck!

Is nail polish makeup?

My boyfriend and I had a bet that I can't go without buying make up for 4 months. I ended up buying nail polish, because that's not really make up, its a type of cosmetics. However he claims it is make up.

So do you think nail polish is make-up?

Is nail polish makeup?
Cosmetic=makeup..yes it is makeup
Reply:No I don't think it is make-up because make-up goes on your face right? Well nail polish is more like a clothing item to me!
Reply:not a chance!!

it is not make-up, and if your bf argues, point out that he is just an ignorant boy, what does he know about make-up and cosmetics anyway?!? huh??
Reply:lol tell him "if its make up .... then why arnt i puttin it on my face ??? everyone knows makeup only goes on your face !!! " lol silly boy what does he know ;] good luck !
Reply:look it doesnt matter if i lie about this or not but

you need to win

but honestly no its an accesorie
Reply:NO!
Reply:Oh hell no!=]
Reply:Only if you put it on your face...thanks for the points!! Redo the bet, but this time spell everything out. Nail polish, hair spay, shampoo, deodorant, whitening gel, etc.
Reply:Was the bet for facial makeup or makeup period? If it was just for facial makeup (no lotions, tanners, etc), then you can get away with excluding nail polish. If it was for everything, then you probably have to include it. :)

I love wearing nail polish,I change at least every 3 days and now my nails have turned a yellowish tone.Help?

Now i don't wear nail polish as much because my school doesn't permit it. I don't really like to wear base coat and my friend said I need to use base coat because it helps protect our nails from the nail polish remover. Is this true?I am now wearing base coat whenever I wear nail polish but how else can I make my nails healthy again?

thanks!

I love wearing nail polish,I change at least every 3 days and now my nails have turned a yellowish tone.Help?
Just go without nail polish for a while and they should clear up. Your nail's need to breathe. Wearing nail polish all the time cuts off the oxygen to your nails and that's why they turned yellowish. And if you don't let them breathe you could develop a fungus under the nail. Good Luck! I hope this helps.
Reply:Take a fresh lemon juice and salt and srub your finger tips with a brush, do that a couple of times and see what develops! Trust me yiu will like the results!!!
Reply:certain nail polishes [especially red] has this stuff that tends to turn you nails yellow also since you are using acetone so often that is also causing you nails to turn yellow the base coat doesnt really help all that much against the acetone bc it come right off when you use it...if you want you nails to be healthy limit using the acetone one a week and let you nails breathe for a day or so [ in other words dont paint em of a day or so]
Reply:lay off the nail polish for a little bit. that happened to me and i did not wear any for a week and they were not yellow. but whenever you do wear polish a base coat is a must.
Reply:base coat, base coat, base coat. Try cleaning them with lemon to get rid of the yellow. Good luck !!!
Reply:Hi. I am no expert on this but as a concerned person i suggest you stop wearing nail polish or applying anything else till the yellow marks disappear. Maybe the chemical constituents of the nail polish is resulting in a reaction with your nail surface. Use more nature based products or even better don't use any products on your nails at all till the discolouration goes away.
Reply:A base coat is a must, especially if you're using darker colors.

Check your local drugstore.

They sell many products that can remove the yellow stains, and return your nails to health.
Reply:Or the yellow stains are just residue from dark or red colors . . . if you bathe regularly it will fade in a few days, remover just dries them out, use some lotion or cocoa butter after you take off polish and it shouldnt be too bad.
Reply:The base coat actually helps the nail polish stay on better and doesn't damage the nail as much as nail polish does. The yellowing in your nails that you are describing sounds like it is from wearing your nail polish - i know weird but some of the dye from the polish can stain your nail and turn it yellow. Just get a good nail polish remover and use it every second day and soak your nails in fresh lemon juice and it should be gone in a week or two. To protect your nails next time wear a base coat before putting on nail polish and it should help. Good luck!
Reply:Base coat is what keeps your nails from turning yellow! You should probably lay off the nail polish for a couple of days...really you might just have to let them grow out.
Reply:Yeah you should be using a good base coat under it. The best brands of base coats that i've found are nutrimetics but i think that it's an australian brand (not sure). Also you can buy hand creams that help the your nail colour.

Will nail polish remover damage my paint?

I got a krazy glue spot on my car, a few people have suggest nail polish remover. I don't want anything thats going to damage my car's paint job. Other suggestions have been goo gone, bug and tar remover, mothers clay bar, nail polish remover, and soap and water. What do you think will work?

Will nail polish remover damage my paint?
no.

car paint is baked at 600F you would need a blow torch to remove the paint.

my dad bot a honda goldwing with a hideous airbrush on the hard bags and we got it off in about two minutes with acetone, the ingredient in np remover

acetone is the only thing that will dissolve k glue
Reply:If the nail polish remover has accetone in it, it may damage your paint. I'd try the goo gone first.
Reply:I'm a professional medicurist. You're right. Too much acetone to your nails or toes will affect them and MIGHT damage them too. Especially its swell, not really good for human noses.

Reply:nail polish remover is acetone and will definitetly damage the finish on your paint . I would try to goo gone first, it is amazing what it will take off. I prefer it over all other products for cleaning that are on the market at this time

Best nail polish that won't go all goopy after like a week?

I am so sick of buying brands like rimmel and maybelline etc etc because the nail polish goes all thick and un-useable after a short amount of time. Does anyone know of a good brand that won't turn into useless goop, or tips on how to prevent this? (and yes, I always keep the caps on tightly and don't expose them to air etc.)

I can't afford to get a new nail polish so often, I need one that will last a long time and not fxck up on me.

Best nail polish that won't go all goopy after like a week?
chanel - you can't gett better than a chanel nailpolish. to stop you nail polishes going goopy, put them in the fridge. it actually works.
Reply:revlon is a really good nail polish and it aint that expensive

as long as you close the cap tightly, shake it before you use it and don't get liquid all over the top of the inside of the pot it should be OK.

revlon nail polishes have improved alot and they give you a perfect coat of varnish which is really smooth

also the pots are quite big so they will last for ages
Reply:Sally Hansen is good. Another brand would be The Face Shop. www.thefaceshop.com Loreal isn't that bad too.

The best way to prevent it is to just keep it closed tightly and keep it in a cool place (avoid leaving it under sunlight). If it turns gooey, you probably can dissolve some nail polish remover in it. It helps to dissolve it a little. Haha. I'm not perfectly sure if it works that well but my friends uses that method.
Reply:i LOVE Rimmel! i have several bottles of Rimmel nail polish that i've had for a year or 2 and they still work great, but since you don't like rimmel, try OPI its a bit expensive, but not too bad. almost every salon uses OPI. plus, they have TONS of colors.

How frequently do you polish your shoes?

Just curious. I polish my shoes daily. And after polishing it, I always think that it doesn't look anything good. But when I'm on my route to school, I inspect every single leather shoe I encounter and compare it with mine. And there's the relief, my shoes isn't that terible at all. Reply:I hardly ever polish and if I do, once in many many months.

Black Nail polish?

Is black nail polish the new trend for nails even if you aren't goth or emo.

Could a girly girl wear black nail polish as a fashion statement?

Black Nail polish?
Glamerous, black is beautiful!

Actually, black and variations of other dark colors are very attractive, but there are a few 'ifs'...

If your nails are neat and of a medium length, it looks great. Black on long nails looks creepy (unless it Halloween), and on very short nails it looks goth or emo.

If you are dressed to kill in a dark (or black) outfit, then black can look very glam on your toes too!

There are also some good black alternatives out now that are deep maroon, purple or blue with hints of blue or red sparkles in them. Try OPI "Midnight in Moscow, or "Lincoln Park After Dark". I like those better than black because they are more interesting (and they cause people to look closer because the hidden colors catch the eye).

Knock 'em dead!
Reply:Yes, this trend has been around for a while. Whenever I wear it though, people ask if I'm going goth.... so stupid.
Reply:You can definitely wear black polish if you aren't goth/emo! The one thing to remember though is to keep your nails nice and short...black polish gets very overwhelming on long nails. Also, make sure you use a base coat (to help protect your nails from staining) and a top coat (to make your polish appear fresher longer). Have fun! :D
Reply:yes i wear it all the time and yea a girly girl can wear it as a fashion statment i mean anyone could wear it.
Reply:black nail polish is deff. not for emo or goth chics...im surfer/skater and i sumtimes wear black nailpolish rite now tho i have hot pink...howev. if u have really lite skin like rele pale black may not be the best choice..i had taht prob.lol but i use this tanning lotion so it totally works.
Reply:wear it. it awesome...

if u like it go for it, kid!!!
Reply:yup. but any really dark colour will do.
Reply:yeah, it has actually become quite trendy.
Reply:yeaah!! It's been in for a couple of years. I wear black nail polish all the time (i am wearing it right now haha) and i am not emo. Last year when i wore it people were like ew your emo but now a lot of people in my grade wear it so yeahh go for it
Reply:Yes Black is definitely in! only suggestion is not to have LONG black nails. shorter black nails are so cute! long ones are scary and tooo Gothic and Emo looking!
Reply:Yeah lots of girls who don't necessarily dress dark wear black nail polish. I wouldn't call it a fashion statement though... its been done plenty of times.
Reply:Nail polish will never be a fashion statement. And goth and emos don't have to wear a certain color of nail polish. Black nail polish has been classified under that "section" of people. This is just the label that ignorant people have given to it.
Reply:Yes, many celebs even have black nails. If you wear it with the right clothes then it can look very classic/ elegant. A "girly girl" could totally paint her nails black. do whatever you want to that's you when u plan ur looks. Ur personality should show in ur clothes. as long as its "you" go for it : ) if ur fashionable and like to take risks, why not try black nailpolish?
Reply:TOTALLY
Reply:A girly girl can pull any nailpolish color off and look good as long as it's something that SHE likes and makes her feel good. I have a Sally hansen polish that is a black cherry color but from far away looks black. Dark hued blues, greens, and purples are really pretty too. Also black with gold or jewel tone tips or accents looks nice. GO for it GIRL!!!
Reply:Sure you can. Don't worry about what other people think to begin with. If you like it then you should wear it =].

I see a lot of people even wearing a pretty darker shade brownish\black too.
Reply:u dont have 2 be goth or emo 2 wear black nail polish.

yes im really girly and i wear black nail polish
Reply:You don't have to be goth or emo to wear black nail polish. Personally, I think it looks really cute. I wear it sometimes, and it pretty much goes with every outfit. So, to answer your question, yes, a girly-girl could wear black nail polish.
Reply:Yeah! I do all the time, and I'm a totally girly girl.
Reply:Try a french nail version which you have black nails and white tips. You can also try nail art on black polish if you can find a really good manicurist in your area. It is trendy %26amp; pretty and doesn't look too dark personality. If you still have reservations about black, you can try on a dark blue to start.
Reply:Yup, I see lots of girls wear black nail polish. Just make sure you cut your nails short, and it will be fine. If you have long black nails, that is creepy and goth-like. But I prefer the classic french manicure! Simple, clean, and elegant!
Reply:You could wear black, but it's actually over as the actual trend. Now it is dark colors that look black from a distance, but are actually dark purples, navy, or really dark red.
Reply:OPI makes a really great dark, dark burgundy like color - I love it - Linkin Park After Dark. It looks great on your nails and toenails.

Black nail polish!!! help!?

how can i stop small bumps appearing on my nails after putting on thick black nail polish??? i ve tried making thinner layers but it ruins the whole thing as the nail polish is soo thick!!!! please give me some good advice!

Black nail polish!!! help!?
Instead of shaking the bottle of polish before using it, roll it back and forth between your palms. That should eliminate the possibility of those little bubbles.

If your polish is too thick, add a drop or two of nail polish remover, shake the bottle, wait ten minutes before applying.

Normally, organic solutions (such as nail polish -- I assume you are not using a water based nail polish) do not foam very much. The most likely cause of the "blistering" -- that is the buzz word for what you are experiencing -- is entrapment of volatile solvent in the first layer. The second coat forms a skin over the first. As the residual solvent in the first layer tries to escape it is trapped under the partially dried top layer.

Small solvent bubbles are trapped and cause the partially dried top layer to blister, or even pop. in extreme cases. One cure for this is PATIENCE. Wait a longer time after the first layer is applied before applying the second coat. Applying a thinner layer ofthe first coat also helps, because the solvent in a thin layer evaporates faster than the solvent in a thicker coat. As a rule you can apply a very thin first layer, since

you are going to apply a top coat anyway. I am no expert here, but what happens if the first coat is just clear polish? I would expect that it would dry faster, and cost less, without sacrificing the color of the nails significantly -- may be a good experiment to try.
Reply:Pour a little nail polish remover into the nail polish bottle and shake. This will help thin out the polish. It sounds like it might be old polish too, so you may want to buy a new bottle.
Reply:i guess you could file them down afterwords or stop using ugly black nail polish~!~
Reply:get an OPI nail polish it is a better brand
Reply:Apply it in the middle part of your nail. First apply has thick polish on the brush so you wanna apply it in the middle. Then work your way through each side by spreading it from the middle. You should be able to have even layers. Also clean your nails before applying nail polish. Should be free from previous nail polish goo.
Reply:Try a different polish, maybe i's just the wrong kind of polish for your nails.
Reply:Try a different brand of polish, and keep it in the refrigerator.
Reply:Add a little polish remover to your nail polish to thin it out. Also keep your bottles of polish in the refrigerator to keep it fresh..
Reply:Honestly, your best bet would be to buy the REALLY cheap black nail polish because it's cheaper and thinner....the problem is that it WILL chip easier, but to fix that problem buy a good brand of clear coat to put over it. It will seal your nail color and it will make them shinier. Hope this helps
Reply:Maybe use a clear sealer to coat and then cover it with black.
Reply:I have also tried doing my own nails several times and I've encountered the same problem so now I just go get it done at the nails salon...cost only $9
Reply:Get rid of that Black Nail Polish and Go buy a New one, it doesn't work anymore.
Reply:Maybe you should try a different brand of nail polish. If the polish is cheap and thick then it is going to do that no matter what you do. Try OPI.
Reply:I think that the nail polish you're using is too cheap. Buy yourself some better polish (try a name brand type, OPI or something like that) and then see if it does the same thing
Reply:My friend did this to me in my sleep but he used purmanet marker on my fingers and it was smooth and shiney.
Reply:Throw it out and buy a new black polish.

Try keeping your polishes in the Fridge to have them last longer.
Reply:Pour a little nail polish remover into the nail polish bottle, and give it a good shake. That should thin it out a little.
Reply:I don't wear black nail polish ( I'm not into the whole black thing, no offence ), but I can always trust a great nail polish company!!!I sometimes wear OPI nail polish, and I just found a great black nail polish!!!It's an OPI classic, and it's called Black Onyx!!!!I hope this helps!
Reply:are they air bubbles?

do one layer at a time. like do one thin layer, wait awhile, then another, wait awhile, etc.

maybe just don't wear black nail polish at all cuz thats ugly to begin with. maybe it's a sign to stop!! oh my gosh! wow.
Reply:Thank you for asking this I've tried two different brands (because that's all that's left in the stores) and the bumps still get there I don't know why
Reply:hit each nail with a hammer, its cheaper
Reply:Try adding some nail polish remover to the polish to thin it out.
Reply:I've always kept my nail polish in the fridge... it makes it easier to work with... try that? i cant guarantee anything though... unless maybe if you do a coat of black - a coat of clear and then another coat of black. hmm - i hope that helps!
Reply:sorry but black? yuck!

Why do a lot of people think that Polish people are stupid?

Why are there jokes about them being stupid?

Why do some people not know that if someone is polish they are called polish not poland?

Why is polish not a language to teach at school when most of chicago is polish...and it's polish community is growing rapidly?

Why do a lot of people think that Polish people are stupid?
only an ignorant person tells those types of jokes
Reply:might be because of their stature. they are always thickset and very short with heavy primitive features plus poland is the poorest european country
Reply:i dont no but i hear people say that a lot
Reply:They are just stereotypes. Every other ethnicity has them as well.

Polish is not a widely spoken language around the world. If someone wants to learn Polish I am sure that they can learn it outside of school.

To the person above. I don't know how many Poles you know but all of the ones I know are not short nor thickset.

Seal and Polish Granite and marble?

I am not sure, but I think I should polish my newly installed granite countertop, then seal it. Is this correct?

So after I seal it, can I still polish it like 6 months or 1 year later?

Seal and Polish Granite and marble?
Yes, and when you mean polish I suppose you mean that light dirty film left over after installation.

The supplier you purchased the granite from should recommend a cleaner/sealer to keep the stone maintained properly. A good cleaner will have protection properties which replenish the protection every time you use it. This ensures many years of non staining. A good product is Revitalizer by Stonetech.

The stone does need an intense sealer/impregnator initially and should have been done by the installer or fabricator. You can do it yourself if you follow the instructions carefully.
Reply:There is a special sealer and polish for marble ....Check it out.....
Reply:the newly installed granite should be polished before it was installed you should never have to polish it you could use an impregnating sealer on it depending on use every 6 month's should do it and check out the marble institute of America recommendations also
Reply:yes , you can... what is wrong with it and why do you need to polish it again? If it needs to be polished newly installed, you need to call the installer/ fabricator back and speak to him.Granite is a great material and should not be a high maintenance product.
Reply:All that's needed is a good, thorough cleaning before sealing.

Help with nail polish!!!?

i will be wearing this dress with probably silver heels and wavy hair. what color nail polish should i wear? people say get a french manicure, but i think that's too much work so what color should i wear? if i do get a french manicure, could i somehow do it myself? i don't want like the really long fake nails though

http://s296.photobucket.com/albums/mm200...

do u think this dress is okay for 8th grade graduation?

should i wear silver or white heels?

p.s. also how can i get my hair to be wavy, not curly?

Help with nail polish!!!?
If youuu got a french manicure,

youu would takke tape %26amp; tape how much you wannt

to be polished.%26amp; then waiiit like 15 minutes for it to dry before peeling off the tappe.
Reply:Pale pink nail polish. Curl your hair with a curling iron then 1/2 hour later when the curls start coming a little undone, then hair spray it or crunch it with mouse. The dress is fine
Reply:if you want to have french manicured names they have kits at walmart and such with a white tip pen that you can do yourself.

i do mine all ofthe time because i dont like fake nails either and they look really good :)

i think silver heels will look super cute with your dress :)
Reply:wow the dress is gorgeous!silver heels with silvery glitter nail poilish or just white will do. you can braid your hair an hour before, but make it damp before braiding!Have fun and congrats in passing the 8th grade....

ps. high school is not too scary
Reply:hmm.. try silver nail polish

and go to the salon so that they can fix your hair the way you wanted it to be ;)
Reply:the color that matches your shoes, of course, and maybe a thick silver head band, but only if it matches your dress.

and for an 8th grade graduation, heels are fine, maybe silver flats?!?!?1!!?
Reply:Do some Silver Sparkles...The french manicure sounds lovely, and I agree it would go with that dress nicely. You don't have to get really long nails...and you can go into the nail salon and have them do it for you...without having fake nails put on at all! I think it's only $5...maybe $7. Have fun! OH..Silver heels..to get some really happening wavy hair...braid it while it's wet..and then sleep on it...when you wake up...kinda scrunch it..and put some..shine spray on it...(really lightly, so that your hair doesn't look greasy) and comb it with your fingers...and yes..the dress is fine for 8th grade graduation!!
Reply:it's cute

silver heels and french tip would look cute

oh to do it urself just put tape on the other part of ur nail, not the tip and paint only the tip

it works hope u have a nice graduation
Reply:cute dress... wear white heels though.

as for nail polish

do a french manicure. you can get the kits at walgreens or cvs or your local drugstore. just pick up something simple. i just had 8th grade graduation and i did my own nails and i didnt use any tape just base coat white polish and top coat. be careful though once you smudge it takes a while to fix. if you don't want really long fake nails you can get short ones but take the glue with you because they don't tend to last long.

good luck! and congratulations!
Reply:Yeah I think you should do the french manicure. Yeah you can do it yourself. I do. And Sometimes even different colors instead of white:D

NAIL POLISH DISASTER! its on my clothes :(?

kk i need some serious help......i was doing my nails, and i accidentaly knocked the nail polish tube off the coutner and onto the floor.....and it got onto a sleeve of my sweater! how do i get it out!? btw, my sweater is light pink, and the nail polish is hot pink. aaand, its been on it for like, a week. can i still get the stain out?

NAIL POLISH DISASTER! its on my clothes :(?
Rinse the stain out as much as you can in hot water, then soak the spot with nailpolish remover. I alo know that hairspray will get out ink stains, but i don't know about nailpolish, but it's worth a try
Reply:If its a week old stain, I can't think of a solution :(

Maybe roll up the sleeve to cover it up. At least they are both shades of pink (instead of a pink shirt with black nail polish on it. Yikes!)

Sorry that I couldn't be of more help hun :(

Maybe next time do your nails in a short sleeved shirt or one that you don't care about.
Reply:USE THE BLEACH FOR COLORS.

OR TRY THE NAIL POLISH ON THE INSIDE OF THE SWEATER IF IT DOESNT DE-COLOR THEN IT MIGHT WORK ON THE OUTSIDE AS WELL=)

OR TRY WASHING IT BY HAND WITH TA BIG TOOTHBRUSH LOOKIN THING.LOL
Reply:i think the stain is in for good sory

Nail polish help?

How come whenever I put on nail polish, and then put on the top coat, the top coat (clear) takes off some of the polish underneath it!!! HOw can i stop that? thanks!

Nail polish help?
wait untill the bottom coat is dry
Reply:It contains a little nail polish remover. It helps to let it completely dry first.
Reply:uhm ur nails may feel dry but tey really arent i learned u shud wait about 10 minutes before putting on a top layer :)
Reply:i JUST did my nails myself right now. you have to wait till the bottom polish is dry. otherwise the top coat smears the bottom coat everywhere.
Reply:it's cause you aren't waiting long enough
Reply:Wait for the bottom coat to dry first.....then apply the top coat

(Wait 10-15 min. to be sure its dry)

Hope I helped...... = )
Reply:BASE COAT!

works every time.

i put either 2 or 3 layers of base coat. (depends on color)

my routine is..

-base coat

-base coat

-color

-clear coat

-color

-top coat.

that works best for me.
Reply:let the underneath coat dry...completely
Reply:i guess you can try to leave the nail polish dry for a while and then put on the top coat.
Reply:put on clear, dry, put on color, dry, put on clear.

This hold it for me like 3 days until small chips start coming in.
Reply:you have to let the base coat dry compleatly, and none will come off
Reply:Wait until the bottom coat is completely dry first!
Reply:let the polish FULLY dry underneath, not even a little bit sticky. if that doesnt work go to like a Sally's beauty supply and find those cans of spray dry and try that before you put on your top coat. or it is a bad top coat
Reply:The bottom coat isn't dry yet.
Reply:If you put a clear coat of nail polish on then a regular coat of nail polish and then wait for it to completely then put another clear coat on, it won't chip as fast as it usually would
Reply:Well do you use clear nail polish or an actual bottle of top coat? Because clear nail polish is thicker and will do that. Top coat is thinner and formulate to not do that.

Plus, you should wait until your nails are completely dry before adding another coat, or the polish will smudge anyway.
Reply:maybe the bottom layer isn't completely dry when you apply the top coat?
Reply:I'm not completely sure why it happens, but I do know how to avoid it: let your nail color dry for at least 5 minutes before adding a top coat. This way the color will have time to harden and it won't transfer to the top coat.
Reply:try waiting for the bottom coat to dry off first
Reply:you can stop it buy purchasing a top coat that specificly says it will not disrupt the bottom coat. also dont press to hard wen u put on the top
Reply:u need to let the first coat dry completely, and make sure wen u put the 2nd coat that the brush isnt dry and sticky as it can take off some of the polish underneath.
Reply:it's not all the way dry dip your fingers in cold water to make it dry faster ( I know why would you stick something i water in order to get it dry but it works!)
Reply:You have to make sure the bottom coat is dry first.
