NAIL POLISH/VARNISH REMOVER ALTERNATIVE? I need to make it...cant buy it?

I am staying at a friends house at the moment and will be for some time, before i came here-a week ago-I put silver nail polish/varnish on my nails.


Over time it has started to come off but i really need some thing that will make it come off totally-none of the shops round here sell anything like nail polish remover.





I thought if i dipped my nails in white spirit it might come off but i might damage my hand...

Clear polish or topcoat can substitute for remover. Brush a layer of the clear stuff over your nail, then quickly rub it off with a tissue. The offending color will come off, too (though it may take a few swipes if the color’s really intense).





Or, you could use isoproyl alcohol if you can find it in your house. Soak your finger tips in warm water for awhile, then use some hydrogen peroxide or the isoproyl alcohol, it should hopefully come off. Good luck-I haven't done this before but someone answered a question like this ago and the person who tried it said it worked-

Reply:I don't recommend trying to use something other than nail polish remover to remove your nail polish. For one thing, there are a lot of harsh chemicals in nail polish remover that you really don't want to be messing around with unless you know what you're doing. As for using white spirits, that's out of the question.
Reply:I think the best alternative is to go over the top of it with nail polish and then REALLY quickly take a kleenex and rub it off - most of the old should come off wiht the wet new polish.
Reply:ive heard that a cotton ball/swab dipped in rubbing alcohol should take it right off. its almost exactly like nail polish remover. good luck! =)

Reply:If you can find Acetone, that's the major ingredient in Nail Polish remover. White spirits won't work.
