Is clear nail polish and basecoat nail polish the same thing?

I was just wondering if Clear Nail polish and Base coat nail polish is the same thing.

Is clear nail polish and basecoat nail polish the same thing?
No. Basecoat is pink and is intended to be a filler for those small ridges and uneven places in the nail. Clear nail polish is just that; colorless and you could view it much as you would a "lip gloss" except it is for nails; to be applied OVER your color to further protect it or worn alone because you want your nails to shine, but look natural.
Reply:They're advertised as being different but there's basically no difference between the two.
Reply:Yes it is .but when you have like blue or pink it is the same
Reply:nope.

clear nail polish is called the TOP coat because it goes on top.

base it any nail polish usually color though
Reply:clear polish goes on the top
Reply:Usually. I've seen basecoats come in other colors, too, though, like light pink.
Reply:No basecoat goes on the bottom and isn't very shiny it's there so that the color doesn't stain your nails and so the nail color won't chip as soon. the clear coat goes on top of the color and it's really shiny, it makes the color look better and helps from chipping also
Reply:clear coat is the TOP COAT where u apply it after u put ur colored nail polish but the base coat it when u apply a red nail polish "for example" it avoids having red color in ur nails when u take out the nail polish..in a whole word "it wont stain ur naills"

lol alot of repeated words NAIL POLISH %26amp;COAT :P

i hope u understood
Reply:No, they really are not. Base Coat and top coat polish are both clear. Some basecoat nail polishes are also smoothing, so the nail color goes on better. And some top coats are more chip-resistant so the nail color will last longer.
