Nail Polish to Fix Chips on Guitar?

I just bought a Crimson Transparent American P Bass that has some chips on it. I know I have seen some nail polishes with this exact color. Has anyone ever applied nail polish on a guitar to fix dings or chips? Thanks.

Nail Polish to Fix Chips on Guitar?
I have indeed used nailvarnish to touch over dings in guitar bodies, with remarkably pleasing results.

Overdo it slightly and put too much on, then, when it dries you can use some nail varnish remover to feather the edges into the old paint with a cotton bud (q tip). Not too much though as you'll just remove all the nailvarnish. A note though, put a dab on there somewhere that it can't be seen and let it dry. Check out the colour in sunlight to see if it's a good match, before attempting anything more substantial on the face of the body.

If you're really brave, to fix dents, if you place a wet J-Cloth over the dent and touch it with a hot soldering iron, the steam will go into the softened, dented wood and swell it back out, like sucking a dent out of a car door and it just requires a little polishing up with some touch up paint (or nailvarnish!)

Good luck to you and your apparently battlescarred P bass!
Reply:Yup.

Although I do like to keep my gear in top nick, it is inevitable that a 20 year old guitar will get dinged- and dinged it has been!

I should have said- Nail polish isn't very hardwearing and will eventually scratch off. Use some thinned down laquer or PVA varnish over the top to seal it. Report It

Reply:try it on a small area and see how it turns out
