Why polish people don't speak and even not even trying to speak English or other language?

i am very interested...why polish people not even trying to learn english...well some of them know russian but they dont want to speak in russian either...they just come to u and start speak in there bird language...and if u show them that u dont understand they become very angry...at work some people walking with polish dictionary...because they dont know how to explain people what to do...maby all foreigners should speak there language then?why they have to be the ones?

Why polish people don't speak and even not even trying to speak English or other language?
I do speak a "bird" language you mentioned. It is beautiful and reach language. And I support every nation, that prefer to speak its own language. Not everybody has to know English, it is something you can live without. Polish people have more connections with German and Russian culture ( history ). And they all speak at least one more foreign language. How many do you speak? Maybe English sounds like a "bird" language to them also.

Chinese people in your country rarely speak English, for you it is normal. Why are Polish different?

At least they are trying, they have their dictionaries with them so they can communicate. What are you doing: joking and making fun of people that have to work in a foreign country to survive?

Selfish and racist.....

Btw, learn some proper English before complaining about others. You have to work with others also and they have to understand you. In a few years these Polish people will speak a perfect English and you will stay behind.

Na zdrowie !

Reply:Why does this bother you so much? What country are you from? Are you Ukranian? My best friends are Polish %26amp; their English is perfect. They work for a bank %26amp; insurance company respectively. I asked if you were Ukranian because I know Ukranians %26amp; Poles don't get on, oh, and because my sister in law is Ukranian %26amp; se talks a lot like how you typed.

Difference is Poles can be here legally because Poland is part of the EU now.
Reply:you'd have to look at their cultures, how do people view one that speaks English? take Japan, they do have English subjects at school, but they don't use it with each other because of their polite society (you're thinking, "how's that?" eh?) well, if one speaks english, it might bother the other person, or it might make him feel stupid for fear of mispronouncing words. *whispers* they're not very good at handling embarassment that's why
Reply:For once, it's generally only the older generation that doesn't speak (much) English;many of them, especially in the cities, are learning English, though. The Russian language was forced on them when Poland was part of the Soviet-led 'Warsaw Pact'.

Most young people are learning English, many of them speak it rather well! I know because I'm teaching English as a foreign language HERE IN POLAND, and I have LOTS of work! It is true, however, that many Polish who go to work abroad are not fully prepared language-wise; here you need to understand that the ad-lib approach is one of the main traits in today's Poland. It's simply positive thinking (things are going to work out somehow)!
Reply:Its not just polish people, the dutch people stick together, and in australia, a lot of asian people will not assimilate, thats why theres tension, I personally dont understand it, if you were going to move to another country, that spoke a different language, wouldnt you want to be able to speak it and at the very least understand it, but they teach their children the ways of their own country, another thing I understand, heritage is very important, but you have to remember when in other countries, do as they do, not be ignorant, and unfortunately, this is where alot of racism comes from, not everyone is like that but the bulk unfortunately are, they are not taught our manners, like stand up for the elderly on public transport etc., just plain human kindness, but in some countries, women are classed as second classed citizens so what can you do when the man of the house doesnt help the situation, wish I knew the answer, there would be alot more happier people in the world!
Reply:Don't you think that this is a bit of a sweeping statement, and that you are over generalising as the above person has rightly said. Although I have no doubt that there are Poles who don't want to learn English, there are many who make great effort. After all, I'm Polish, and I would consider my English to be of a high (ish) standard. Although there is one other Polish person at my place of work, whenever there are non-polish speaking people around, we always speak in English and not, as you kindly put it, 'bird language'.
Reply:Well, yanks say that they must NOT learn another language. Perhaps the Poles say the same
Reply:I don't agree that they don't try to speak other languages, that's an american thing, not polish. I know many polish people that speak German and English. How about YOU learn some polish if you got a problem with them? It goes both ways, you know, don't be so stuck up!
Reply:Do not generalize!

I am Polish and I speak English and Spanish, so you are NOT right. All my friends DO speak English or German (rarely Russian).

How many languages do YOU speak?
Reply:Wow your intelligent " bird language". *shakes head at your ignorance*

I have a Polish friend who speaks perfect English. The reason they learn Russian is cause Russian is bordered with Poland.

Sure some people get angry at not being able to understand it is fraustrating.

There is a lot of multicultures who rather speak their own language because they feel comfortable.

Here is a scenerio:

How about you go to Poland or any non-English speaking country and only speak English and see how fraustrated

you get when people either give up on understanding you or just ignore you.

Why don't you try and learn some Polish you don't need to learn it fluently but at least a bit to understand wha they want or need.
Reply:How ignorant. LOL. Learn English yourself. Nice grammar by the way. What is that 6th grade level writing skills along with your 6th grade level question/opinion?
Reply:what?

if a person is in Poland, they should speak or try to learn to speak Polish.

if they move to another country - Russia or England - then they should attempt to learn the language of the country that they move to.

as a side note, I think it's hysterical that people who are native English speakers (nominally, mind you, not like they make a lick of sense) complain about what languages other people speak. I'm sure when my ancestors got off the boat from Germany at Ellis Island, they spoke perfectly fluent English and were treated like princes by the Americans.
Reply:I'm very interested to know your background, because if you're a native English speaker we're all in trouble.... your English is quite bad and you also have some racist remarks about other people's languages. Polish is not a "bird" language, but yours is quite close to unintelligible or just plain uneducated person's.
Reply:you should learn polish instead of expecting others to conform to you.
Reply:I think they don't like to learn english nor russian language, because of their history.....

Poland were once colonized by Germany in the World War I (Germany has a western culture), so Polish people don't want to be influenced with the Western culture (like the English) and may be this is also a traumatic effect of the said war.

I also think that they wouldn't learn Russian so much because of being a communist country of Russia... even though russian is a second language to the Polish in the old times.

Polish would only like to express their nationalism that they so much loved their own language and they do not want to learn either english or russian language....

Just understand them.....
