Nail polish! on my carpet! Dont have nail polish remover help!!!!!?
I once spilled red nail polish on a green poly blouse. Knowing that nail polish remover would destroy the fabric (it's a verrry strong solvent) I grabbed a can of HAIR SPRAY in desperation and saturated the mark. IT CAME OUT.... completely. And it didn't damage the blouse... or the color.

It's worth a try.... do it. Saturate the mark and rub with a clean rag. (just a thought, but if the polish is completely dry, it probably won't work) Another tip: Someone once told me that they used SHAVING CREAM on a huge nail polish stain on carpet-- they rubbed it in, then scrubbed with very hot water and a scrub brush. Use as many times as necessary. (she told me that she knows several people who have used the shaving cream method with SUCCESS~ and the plain, white, inexpensive kind works best!)

Also, be very careful with polish remover or acetone--- it might dissolve the carpet fiber-- and a hole is worse than a stain!

Good Luck!
Reply:If you have anything containing acetone, you can try that; that's the active ingredient in nail polish remover.
Reply:Nail polish remover is basically diluted acetone. If you have some of that in the garage, you can try it. Other than that, you probably need to run to Wal Mart. To remove nail polish you need a pretty strong solvent. You can always let it dry and try to scrape it off, but I'm not sure how well that would work.
Reply:run up the street and get some nail polish remover--a big bottle.

you can't make it at home.

If you use the acetone, then dilute it w/ rubbing alcohol. the straight acetone will be too harsh to apply on your carpet.
