Is rainmaker hoof polish nessisary?

Is the rainmaker hoof polish you put on horses feet nessisary? I want to put Supershine hoof polish on my mare but i dont want it to dry her hooves out. Will it? If i put supershine hoof polish on my mare will it hurt her feet by cracking them or something? Or should i just put the rainmaker on her feet and when i get ready to show her put the supershine on? I really want to put the supershine on her....... please help me asap!

put rainmaker on the hoof. let it absorb and then add your supershine.

Reply:I wouldn't put anything on the feet unless you really have to. The feet need to breath, and sealing them with what is basically shelac is the worst thing you can do. If you must put this stuff on, wait until the show and then remove it as soon as possible afterwards. I never used hoof shine and did just fine at shows, although it sounds as if you're doing halter or something where I suppose someone cares how shiny a horse's hooves are. Hoof health comes from within. What you see outside is basically dead...like your nails. You can't really dry that out.
Reply:I have used both of these products and I have found that supershine does dry out the hoof. So I do just as you have said use the rainmaker on his hoofs and when I get ready to show him then we apply the supershine for that show quality finish. Hope I have helped.
Reply:use both maybe?
Reply:The horse wouldn't care how her hooves shine. I guess it would be advised to polish her hooves if she's attending a contest or a race.

Reply:I dont guess I understand your question. Why would you want the supershine all the time? That product is something you use when you are showing your horse. What diffrence does it make if her hooves are all shiny while she's in the pasture or barn.

As for rainmaker I only use this when the weather is really dry, other wise my horses go natural
