Nail polish in bathtub? Please help!!?

My son spilled my nail polish in the bathtub, a wine/maroonish color. Any suggestions on how to remove? I havent tried nail polish remover cause i didnt know if it would ruin the finish on the tub ( the tub is kind of a bluish color, not white).

I am guessing that it is set in and that the color is there. If for some reason it is not try to get it up as quickly as possible. I think that you should try using a non-acetone nail polish remover, test a generous area first and then if that does not work or if you notice some discoloration then I would hope that after some time it will wear off. It does when its on our nails and that is because of water. Your tub should hopefully be protected well enough because it should have some very heavy glazing to keep its color.
Reply:Here's how to fix this problem: Get some fast drying acrylic enamel reducer, (available at an auto parts store that sells paint) and a clean dry cloth. If you don't want to do that, use a liquid bug %26amp; tar remover. The two chemicals are nearly the same thing.

Soak it on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe off the excess. You may need to do this a few times, and if any stain is left, use a fine 3M scotch brite pad to gently buff it out.

Keep a fan close by, and a window open. The fumes can be harmful.
Reply:I would try nail polish remover that does NOT contain acetone. It shouldn't harm the tub finish, as it is porcelain.

If you're still afraid to try that, then I suggest you contact a company that redoes the finish on tubs and ask them.
