Black Nail Polish? Honest answers please.?

I am currently wearing black nail polish and when people see it they admittly thing I'm goth, dark, cold-hearted, or part of a gang of some sort. Why is this? I thought since most of the celebratities are wearing it that it showed some sort of class. And the reason some people think that I'm part of a gang is because I am African-American. What do think about black nail polish? Is it a good thing or is it bad? Oh yeah I put like a white strip on both of my middle fingers, does that say or mean anything? Thx sooo much!

I got the same thing i wore black nail polish to school and everyone and my friends thought i was goth but i think black nail polish is a good nail color but i haven't heard anything about gangs.But putting on a white strip just says your trying to be creative with your nails and cute but people don't realise that the pussycatdolls wear that kind of nail polish too and the dolls that are trying to be one wear it to but all i know just say forget what people say it's your thing.

Reply:black or almost black red nail polish is a statement ...but doesnt mean a damn thing...execept you like black...stupid people who classify you over nailpolish arent worth your time anyways... also so what i fyou have white on your middle fingers....your making a statment of "being diffrent" good for you...screw anyone who judges you over somthing so dumb
Reply:The first I think of is Goth, because so many people who live that lifestyle wear black nail polish and lipstick. However if I was to really think my teenage years, this may have been the thing that I would do to show my individuality. I used to always say that I doesn't matter what I wear and how I looked- this was a part of my uniqueness.





Although it shouldn't matter, after 15 years of living in the professional world I find that It does matter because people have a visual of you before having the time afforded in getting to know a person.





If you are young, you should allow yourself time to get to know who you are and what you like; so allow yourself to be creative and in time you will come into your own.

Reply:I really like it but would probably only wear it on my toes. My work environment is too conservative.





It was in style last fall. I heard it no longer is, but just last Saturday I saw several girls getting manicures w/black nail polish. I say if you like it, wear it and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. The black nail polish looks great on darker complexions!
Reply:I like that black nail polish look. The celebrities are using I think a dark purple that looks black. Some I guess use black polish but u should not care what others think. It looks very nice and most people don't think like u do. Maybe it's the very young people, don't know. I use dark purple colors by OPI and Orly, these look black but aren't. Just be yourself and you probably don't look like a gang member so don't worry. If u like it and they don't that's their problem.
Reply:Black nail polish is not the best looking. If you do not want people to label you then do not use black. Black does not look good for polish anyway. Black looks better in other things like clothes.
Reply:Black nail polish is cool. I'm an African-American woman and I love black nail polish....What I've learned is that no matter what u do or what u wear or how u look someone is going to have something to say. Don't worry about it, just be yourself and you'll be fine.
Reply:I personally think that black polish is ugly, no matter who is wearing it, although I don't necessarily think the the people wear it are gang members. Neither do I believe that black people are gang members just because they are black. Don't take your fashion tips from the celebrities. Have really looked at some of the clothes, make-up and hairdos the celebrities are wearing these days? UUUUUGLY!! Develop your own style and wear the things that you really believe make you more attractive. I can assure you that black polish isn't one of them unless you are trying to attract a goth.

the only way i see black nail polish being cute is if u are wearing an outfit with black and another color in it.


like say if you have


pink blouse


pink rings, bracets, and earrings


black nail polish


black pants or skirt


black or pink shoes.





u have to dress up a color like black. now if u have black nail poilish and wear all black then people will think u are gothic. if you have black nailpolish on and dress boyish then people will think u are in a gang.


but if u dress stylish and have black nail polish they will think u are making a fashion statement.

Reply:Let them stereotype. At least you know what is in style and what's not. Black nails are very in right now. I don't know about the white stripe. I don't think it means anything. It's just when people see something different like black nails they freak out. It's really quite funny. They just don't have a sense of fashion.
Reply:Dont let anyone tell you that its not cool to wear something when you like it. if the they have a problem with black nail polish then its thier problem. And no it does not mean you are part of a gang some of my friends wear it and they do all sorts of stripes and poka dots on it. So its okay to wear black nail polish.
Reply:i think it`s cool %26amp; always wear black polish, usually in some kind of offbeat way, like having all the nails black except on the pinky of one hand i`ll have it pink, or having all the nails on one hand black, %26amp; doing the nails on the other hand silver, or whatever...people are just used to stereotyping others, so when they see something like black nail polish, they automatically think "goth"...what a load of ridiculous crap!!! just wear whatever u want, %26amp; let people think whatever they want!!! if u like it, that is the most important thing!!! as far as the white stripes u mentioned, i`m not aware of any meaning to that...
