I've never put nail polish on before.
Does nail polish remover take bits of your nails out or do they just take the nail polish out?
If you plan on using it to remove nail polish that you've put on for the first time, you can use nail polish remover if you don't happen to be allergic to it. Nail polish remover is basically acetone, which is a solvent for plastics. It can be bad for some people, and bad for almost anyone if they use it too often.
I've used acetone all of my life in the business I'm in (fiberglass reinforced plastics) and when I use it very frequently, my skin is very dry.
I suggest that you try it on one fingernail and see if you have a reaction overnight.
If there is no reaction at all, use it to remove your nail polish.
Reply:Nail polish remover is designed to remove nail polish. If you have acrylic nails (the fake ones), nail polish remover with acetone will remove both the nail polish and the acrylic nails.
Reply:Nail polish remover removes just the polish. It can dry out your nails if you are using pure acetone or an acetone remover but as far as taking bits of your nails out, no, it does not do that.
If you are wearing acrylic nails, polish remover won't hurt the acrylic. You would have to soak your nails in the remover for a long period of time to have it do anything to it. I use pure acetone to remove polish because it works faster and cleaner.
Reply:It only removes the nail polish that you had on before. It doesn't harm the nail. Sometimes it even strengthens the nail depending on what kind of polish remover you use.

i painted my toes red 2 weeks ago last week they were black this week their 'marine scene' a pretty blue...like cerulean in the crayon box. usually my hands are glitterish (glitter nail polish) this week i want 2 different colors can anyone PLEASE pick 2 colors that would look good on me?? THANKS

What looks good on you would depend on your coloring (eye color, hair color and flesh tones) as well as the color clothes you wear (if you wear certain colors most of the time). Of course, if you're young and like to be outrageous, then it doesn't matter what "looks good", wear what is fun for you.
You probably have rather curved toe nails, use a Q-tip dipped in remover to get at the sides of your nails better when removing polish and don't forget to put a base coat down before you polish, it will protect your nails from taking on any dark or drastic colors (you don't want blue toenails for real!) If the Q-tip still isn't enough you can take an orange stick (those wooden sticks that you buy with one curved end and one pointed one) and dip it in remover, then hold a cotton ball and let the wet wood grab a bit and wind it around the stick like a mini-Q-tip, then wet it with more remover and you should be able to get polish from the sides. But don't poke way down in there and damage yourself. Good luck!

My nail polish (professional manicure) is peeling after less than 24 hours. Poor manicurist or bad polish?
8 of 10 fingernails started peeling, but toes look fine. This is OPI polish, I brought in my own bottle. I haven't done anything out of the ordinary. Showered, a couple of dishes, and washing my hands a couple of times.

Reply:I would say go back to the manicurist and ask them to re-do it at no charge. For it to start peeling that quickly is just a really poor job and you paid for it, I would hope they would fix it free of charge otherwise I wouldn't go back there again.
If they used the same polish for your toes as they did for your fingernails, I would say possibly the toes stayed better because you use your toes a lot less for things such as the washing dishes and washing hands, etc. It does sound like bad nail polish but also just a bad job done, let them know about it ASAP and tell them you are unsatisfied with the job they did and you want it fixed free of charge or want your money back. They should be willing to comply.
